I’m putting my efforts towards writing a book - yet HeroinDiaries is finally getting a little much-needed attention

It’s been long. Far too long. Speaking for myself, I have missed many opportunities for good profound writing. As for the site, in my absence it has grown stagnant and is on life support. Aside for a new “member” Scatt whom is still figuring Wordpress out, the only other active “member” is Mary. I put member in quotes because at this point this obviously isn’t some sort of fraternity. That never was my purpose for creating this site. In the end, it’s just a domain name. Perhaps the site will grow into some sort of fraternity, and perhaps not. I have tried to steer it in that direction, and I am sorry for leaving for so long. I will again continue to steer it in that direction however, with such things as our messageboards, and perhaps my re-apperance (and Peri’s if she can get off livejournal), will spark some fresh interest.
I am still offering free accounts for any purpose (including webhosting of any software, including Wordpress,) and free email accounts, the only limit being shell/telnet access and very generous quotas, but webhosting and free accounts of many kinds has become free and abundant and domains have become cheap, making this not as lucrative as I had hoped. I will host your own domain if you’d like.
I have stayed silent for a long time despite numerous promises, and it’s time for me to write again. Everything that was in the air is finally settled. I have a job (that I have been home sick the past three days from and don’t particularly enjoy, and I am underpaid to boot.) As implied by the fact that I have a job, I am a provisional permanent resident of Australia (provisional on my relationship, which is now a marriage, with Peri.) I still have a drug problem, although the problem is more like a lack-of-drug problem, which I will delve into on my own blog. and you can look for an entry on my blog in the next couple of days.
Despite the lack of new material, traffic is still good, great even (and spam is abundant - if any members have problems with it drop me a line I have a few tips). What Peri has written is not tested by time. Mary is still active. And we still have plenty of things that stand alone, such as: My Buprenorphine FAQ, and Safer Shooting Guide, both to be updated in the coming week, The massive Drug War Revealed containing my series Drug Prohibition: The Bigger Picture (which will finally get the update I’ve been promising - the final “critical” article articulating my opinion of the technicalities on the hot potato of ending prohibition).
I hope to hear from everyone I’ve missed.

Not only are we newlyweds (see my blog for a summary of our story), but we’re dealing with immigration and I am having to learn the latest version of the software for my career (latest version yet crippled from what I am used to as it does not posess the extensions I am used to and are pretty much required for what I do, making things difficult, trying to anticipate how things are done in companies here,) on top of that we are both sick (not drug related). Wheeeeeee.
I’ve got a nice suprise coming in a week or two at most so keep your eyes peeled (it’s on Drug War Revealed but I will post a notice here, although I suggest you subscribe to it if you are using newsreaders and if you want to get the updates from that site as it’s updated sporadically.)

NOTICE:
I, after looking at the way people are finding us (i.e. search engine keywords), want to stress that Heroindiaries does not advocate the illicit use of ANY opiate. Your life will go down the toilet, really. Please. I implore you. Stay away. Alas, I find that no one listens anyway. But I implore you regardless. You won’t be addicted after that first hit despite the ONDCP, but it will lead you to your second and third etc. (people who are actually wanting to try it are of the addictive personality types that WILL lead to addiction (and thus a life of shit) in most cases.)
If you think you can control the beast you are sadly mistaken. I have seen it on ADH time and time again. Trust me. You are playing russian roulette with 5 bullets in a 6 shooter.
And this site should be about far more than Heroin et. al. anyway.

Yoshi has apparently decided to join Junkylife, and that’s fine, that whole RIP thing was quite unsettling and perhaps he’d be better suited to there - but I have been emailing him for months with no response - I haven’t heard from him about defection even. That’s just rude.
Finally, go to our forums, you can post as a guest but I urge you to sign up, and give me feedback on my bupe FAQ. I need feedback before I publish it in it’s final form (which will see many changes regardless.)
Talk to you all soon,
Nephalim

Did you know that these exist? Yes, and they’re open all hours! (unlike your webmaster and his soon-to-be-bride, who do have to sleep occasionally.)
Why not sign in to talk to Heroindiarists, friends and other interested parties, about blogging, drug policy, drugs or just about anything else that takes your fancy (within reason, of course - no solicitation of illicit materials, please! That’s for your own protection, as well as ours). I’ve started a topic in the “Chat” sub-forum, too, where people can post when they will be in the chatroom! so others can join them there for a real-time talkfest.
All are welcome… be you HeroinDiaries bloggers, friends of the HeroinDiarists, or other interested folk. Unlike some so-called “opiate blogging communities” (*cough*), we’re not into exclusion, backstabbing or other such bullshit here at HD. So, do drop by sometime soon! We’ll put the “virtual kettle” on for you… (B.Y.O. poppyseed tea… or whatever else gets your typing fingers in the mood.)

As many of you may be aware, we have a chat program (look on our sidebar, or click here) which until now, has gone unused. We are a diverse community, stretched across many timezones (heck, even our new friend Yoshi is an hour ahead of Nephalim and I, at least until the end of this month. And as for our United States and Canadian friends, their timezones differ anywhere between 15 and 19 hours to the Australian contingent.) This has made the chances of logging on, and finding anyone else in chat, rather distant to say the least.
I’d like to change that. Please, if you’d like to chat with us (whether or not you’re a blogger here), if you could comment with times that you’d be most likely to be online (along with your time zone - American Eastern, Greenwich Mean Time, what have you)… and perhaps a group of us could get together to chat? (I’ll handle the time conversions at this end, as I’m more than used to talking to people at the other end of the day to myself. Having lived in the United States helps, too. *Grins*)
Comment away, and hopefully I’ll be able to put some chat times up in the next few days!
All the best,

(NOTE: Again, all our services are 100% free of charge or obligation, including speciality requests. Domains are $10 (base-level, i.e. yourwebpage.com), but I am willing to pay for it out of pocket for certain people. It’s not a big deal; we aren’t petty.)
I just installed FAQMasterFlex for Creamed Brains on Toast. He hasn’t done anything with it yet, but if you want to see it in action, take a peek here. It allows for easy creations of FAQs and a user-friendly viewing interface, and an easy way to make a publishing of your FAQ outside of the FAQMasterFlex system.

Installations overview
(for links to documentation on any of the above software, try this link.)
In case you are wondering how we can install such things so easily, it’s due to our excellent host, and the CPanel Interface (including Fantastico) that makes this possible.
And again, if you wanted something custom or not in the interface for auto-installs, I would be happy to accomidate, doing a personal install. Our host allows for almost anything to be easily installed, as the general frequently used modules are already there.
So go wherever your dreams take you
Also note that Yoshi has joined the Heroindiaries family. He has his hosting somewhere else, but you can access his homepage at yoshi.heroindiaries.com and soon you won’t be able to notice it is hosted elsewhere - heroindiaries will be fully integrated as the URL for his site.

I have heard one or two worries that I might lose interest or give up on the site. Let me first assure you that I will fight for this place to the bitter end, it’s the only place I have, as I am excluded from the two similar groups I know of, Junkylife and ADH (which most prior members now post on a place called ”the non-clique” (yeah right). If anyone from there is wondering why I am posting this and making it public (in case it wasn’t), perhaps they should check the two emails I got from there.
Anyway, the whole point of this place is it being NON exclusive. This isn’t a private club. It’s open to anyone except trolls (what was really all that was needed for an alternate to ADH but se la vie.) The forums can be a non-exclusive version of ADH/Opiophile/etc.. The overall of the site is to be owned de facto by the members that give it it’s content, suggestions, and coding. It’s to be community oriented.
Anyways, this site will *NOT* be abandoned. I fill maintain it for at least two years - my promise to you for starting/porting a blog here. And for those whom I in my discretion deserve it, I will personally buy you a domain name of your very own. Sub-domains are still on a first-come-first-served basis for another 10 users or so, after which time will be given on request and/or at my discretion.
The site is paid for, for 8 months from now, so I can absolutely guarantee no problems until then - even if we hosted JL traffic levels (and if an upgrade was necessary I will pay it happily, but that case is highly unlikely). But as I said, I am guaranteeing 2 years of service to you, the blogger, and will in the unlikely event years down the road no longer want to manage heroindiaries I will still keep and maintain the domain so you can bring your blogs elsewhere without losing your readers (they will be redirected). But once again, I can’t forsee myself ever giving up on HeroinDiaries, especially not the blogs.
So, keep those requests coming.

Running feeds through feedburner and making good usage of their features (like that new “Feedflare” bar at the bottom of posts), getting popularity working for all my sites, setting up public (detailed) stats as well as webalizer (making it public, working on it), a bunch of things. I haven’t yet started on the plugins, but I can see that will be a huge task. The AJAX Spell Check Plugin does NOT work at the moment and should *not* be used.
Let me know if anyone wants me to tinker with their blogs or anything.
Due to the fact that my (x)html is terrible at best, I’ve welcomed with open arms Emerald to be a website administrator for this domain. A big thank you to her, and I hope she’ll wind up contributing to the content as well.
Finally, I have bought heroindiaries.org and heroindiaries.net (they will redirect), and nephalim.org is finally being ported to point to my blog. As a gift to any gifted bloggers that request it, I will buy them a domain of their own for joining our community. I will happily manage DNS for any domain however nonetheless.

Thanks to my readers who have put up with all this bullshit. Believe me when I say it’s done. At least on this end. I meant it however when I said I want nothing to do with backstabbers however, and I would find Billi’s little click and his obsession with what I am doing funny if it wasn’t so sad.
(and there is plenty of dirt I have been granted on “Billi” yet I shall be the better and just keep it to myself. But if I hear any further lies about me or my wife from his direction, I might rethink that.)
Time to get back to some real content work. I feel really bad that Mary’s first day here was marred with such garbage.
